First Appointment

Your first visit to our office establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you. You will  meet us and our staff and see our office. We will get to know you and find out the kind of dentistry you want and need.

Unless it is for an emergency problem, a new patient appointment is a comprehensive examination and necessary x-rays.  Medical and dental histories will be taken, including blood pressure and an oral cancer screening. Usually this appointment includes a scaling and polishing if you have not had one recently.  If a problems exist that requires immediate attention, every effort will be made to address it.  Either a consultation appointment or treatment appointments are arranged next.  If cosmetic or more complex restorative issues exist, the first appointment may also include clinical photos and diagnostic impressions so that they can be reviewed later by the doctor and discussed more fully with you at a separate consultation appointment.  At this time we can also discuss any need that you may have for pre-medication or nitrous oxide analgesia to reduce your anxiety about dental treatment, or any of the other ways that we can make treatment in our office as easy and comfortable for you as possible.

Developing a treatment plan that is right for you requires good communication.   We will always try to be clear and direct in explaining the treatment you need, the options you have, and the cost.
